SHP supports successful PFI bids

SHP has struck up a successful formula for PFI schemes including the Northern batch PFI and more recently Right for Fife in Kirkcaldy. The PFI contracts for Hope and Tameside hospitals have recently been approved following a successful tendering process by Consort Healthcare supported by SHP. These major acute hospitals were included within the Northern Batch PFI and design development is now continuing to refine the content with the schemes with sign off being due towards the end of 2006. SHP has played an integral part in all stages of the scheme development from the original PITN through to sign of 1:200 plans.

SHP has also supported Consort Healthcare with the development of their ITN submission for the £150m redevelopment of Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife. The scheme has involved the development of a new Accident and Emergency Centre, Critical Care, Theatres, in patient wards and a Women and Children's centre to enable the integration of acute services from Queen Margaret and Forth Park Hospitals. Consort is currently one of the final 2 bids being considered by the Health Board. SHP's role was to support the team with healthcare planning advice, which involved validation of planned models of care, facilitation of user group meetings and advising on the emerging design. A decision on the preferred bidder is expected by the end of the year.
